The Auto Expo saw iconic motorbike makers like Harley-Davidson and domestic giants like Bajaj Auto launching their bikes at the Auto Expo. India is seen as a rapidly expanding market, where consumers eye performance, power and style, particularly for recreational biking.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON:
Bike maker Harley-Davidson launched its much-awaited, cheapest model, the made-in-India Street 750, aimed to meet the demand of bike enthusiasts in the country.

The bike is powered by a new Revolution X engine specifically designed for urban riding. It is liquid-cooled to maintain peak performance both in the city and on the highway, company officials said. It two-wheeler, which will be fitted with premium Zapper MRF tyres, will go on sale from March and is priced around $6,600.

BAJAJ AUTO
Bajaj launched the Pulsar SS200 and gave viewers a first look at two more “aggressive” bikes, the sports cruiser Pulsar CS 400 and the sportier Pulsar SS400, which are set for launch later in the year.

But the eye-stopper at the Bajaj stall was the two-seater U car, the passenger version of Bajaj’s commercial quadricycle RE60, which was showcased two years earlier. The U car, which runs on gasoline, has air conditioning and scissor doors. The quadricycle still awaits government clearance.
