The Japanese auto major looks to significantly increase its presence in the Indian market
Nissan Motor India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor, has re-launched its two-year-old model Sunny. The vehicle now comes with redesigned boomerang-shaped headlights, a boulder front bumper, new fog lamps and more leg room.
The company has also refreshed the vehicle interiors with a new leather steering wheel, a gear knob and a premium audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The car’s side now sports a more matured look, with new door visors and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Nissan India has also introduced a redesigned version of its Micra hatchback. The Micra car now gets a sculpted bonnet and front bumper with a signature V-shaped chromegrille. The rear, too, gets a remodelled bumper with bright LED tail lamps and a high-mounted LED stop lamp—the first in its segment. The Micra has been further enhanced by silver finished door trims, redesigned seats and an improved audio system.
Nissan is keen to increase its market share eight-fold in India, from 1.3 percent in 2013 to about 10 percent by 2016. The company hopes that the Datsun car brand, which was shelved in the 1980s, will be reintroduced next month to help boost its presence in the domestic market.
