The summer of 2012 may be hotter than usual in most states as many thermal power plants are scrapping the bottom of the barrel for coal. The Central Electricity Authority says about 40 thermal power stations have stocks for less than seven days.  The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has begun a performance review of the sector, focussing on the coal and gas shortages.
