This year, 221 billionaires fell off the Forbes World's Billionaires List, the most since 2009. Which of them tumbled the most; and why?
The commodities rout, market mayhem and global economic uncertainty have dented the wealth of many of the world’s richest. This past year 221 billionaires got knocked off our list; not since 2009—when the credit crisis exiled 355 from the three-comma club—have so many fallen in one year.
China lost the most—42—followed by the US, which had 25 ex-billionaires. Brazil lost 23, while 19 Russians and 15 Indians got the boot—giving a new meaning to the term ‘BRIC economy’.
