Cloud computing has been around for a while now. Organisations have routinely outsourced their IT needs to the virtual network. However, more recently, the concept of "hybrid-cloud", a combination of older legacy systems and the cloud itself, has taken off. Gartner, a research outfit estimates the global spend on cloud computing to rise from nearly $230bn in 2019 to a whopping $355bn next year. The ongoing pandemic only has put the whole concept on steroids.
