Inspired by the works of legends like Frank Llyod Wright, Charles Correa, B V Doshi and Tadao Ando, Haresh P Lakhani is a self taught architect with more that 30 years in the field of architecture, interior design and consultations. He is the founder and Principal Designer of HP Lakhani Associates, an Architecture and Interior Designing firm.

Growing up in a modest background in Mumbai, Lakhani was intrigued by the architectural marvels that surrounded him. It was the sight of Kanchanjunga Apartment, designed by the legendary Charles Correa, that ignited his passion for architecture and design. While pursuing the Interior Designing course at L S Raheja College of Interior Design and Architecture, he worked with his brother, a seasoned practitioner, and gained practical experience and exposure, which clubbed with his curiosity and love for structures, nurtured and polished the architect within him.

Lakhani believes that sustainable structures and resilient design is the biggest trend in architecture today. The convergence of smart buildings and biophilic designs holds immense potential to redefine the future of architecture, offering sustainable solutions that prioritize the well being of both occupants and the environment. He states, “Biophilic designs try to erase the defining lines between human and nature interactions in creative and sustainable ways.”

For Lakhani each new project comes with excitement and inspiration, planning and synergizing ideas with the clients, and collaborating with associates and partners to plan, counsel and develop environmentally responsible designs and architecture solutions. He implores that creating designs using elements such as natural ventilation, passive solar design, and organic and natural materials, seeks to connect indoors and outdoors seamlessly, bringing us close to nature. This approach makes the structures more energy efficient and reduces the overall carbon footprint and has a positive and healthy impact on human well being.

At HP Lakhani Associates, they have spearheaded projects that induce biophilic with other green building features to encourage interactions with nature. From residential complexes to commercial spaces, each design reflects a meticulous balance between luxury and environmental responsibility.
